A vision worth making.

The team had a specific vision for a retirement gift, but finding someone to make it had proved difficult. They approached Vermont Creations with a reference image and a question: could its intricate detail become a carved wood plaque?

The central badge was the starting point. To reproduce it faithfully, we requested clearer reference material, which the customer obtained from headquarters. The design grew from an initial 18-inch request to an approved 24-inch size, giving the details more room.

Every detail had a purpose.

We developed a digital carving model and planned different cutting tools for different parts of the design: the fine central badge, the surrounding Fort Worth, Texas lettering, and the larger relief. Shared renderings and progress photographs let the customer see the piece taking shape.

The team preferred the character of stained wood to painted color. Dark walnut was chosen to bring contrast to the raised details and recessed areas.

A chapter to remember.

After delivery, the plaque was presented at a division meeting. The organizer told us the recipient felt it captured his tenure and would help him remember his time in Texas.
